HMAS Otway
Two submarines of the Royal Australian Navy have borne the name Otway.
O-class submarine
The first HMAS Otway was an O class submarine laid down by Vickers Limited of Barrow-in-Furness in England in March 1925, launched on 7 September 1926 and commissioned on 15 June 1927. HMAS Otway paid off into Reserve on 10 May 1930, paid off for transfer to the Royal Navy on 9 April 1931 and commissioned as HMS Otway on 10 April 1931.
Oberon class submarine
The second HMAS Otway (S-59) was an Oberon class submarine laid down by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company at Greenock in Scotland on 29 June 1965, launched on 29 November 1966 and commissioned on 23 April 1968. HMAS Otway paid off on 17 February 1994 and was sold in November 1995. The casing and fin of Otway is on display at a park at Holbrook in southern New South Wales.| Oberon-class submarine |
